My Chinese name “泰安” is spelt as “Tai Onn” in Cantonese (my dialect group) and ‘Tai'an” in Mandarin.
It is derived from the proverb “国泰民安”(Guo Tai Min An) meaning “the country prospers, and the people are at peace." This proverb is usually found in congratulatory messages for national days.
The following photos of signages or banners carrying the phrase of “国泰民安” are captured by me during my recent tour to Tai'an city of Shandong, China.
