Wai Yu & Jia-Mei Happily Ever After

My 3rd son Wai Yu is the first of my four children to get married.  He fell in love with Jia-Mei who hails from Taichung, Taiwan whom he met in New Zealand during their Work-and-Travel program in 2014.

Since then, Wai Yu has been to Taiwan to meet his girl-friend’s family members, and Jia-Mei has also come to Malaysia twice and stayed with us once for a few days.

On Saturday, March 4, 2017, my wife Soh Ai, eldest son Wai Kit, Wai Yu and I flew to Taiwan for a 9D8N stay and the main objective was to witness Wai Yu’s marriage registration with Jia-Mei.
We were received by Jia-Mei at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and driven by her to her residence in Taichung, about 160 km away
We were treated to a sumptuous dinner by Jia-Mei’s father on the next day of March 5, 2017.

Wai Yu and Jia-Mei went to East District Household Registration Office, Taichung City to register for marriage on Monday, March 6, 2017.  They went to Taipei for related matters on Wednesday, March 8, 2017.

We flew back from Taiwan to Malaysia on March 12, 2017 to be followed by Jia-Mei on the next flight.  They had their marriage registered with Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara Malaysia, WP Putrajaya on March 14, 2017.

I sponsored the newly-wed couple for a 4D3N “honeymoon tour” to Kuching, Sarawak from March 25 till 28, 2017 booking a ground arrangement package from the MATTA Fair (RM 1,512.00)on March 18, 2017 and paid for the air tickets (RM 508.84), taxi fare (RM 65.00), tour guide tips (RM 40.00) as well as some pocket money (RM 500.00).

Bye bye to Wai Yu and Jia-Mei
As a father, my most fervent hope for all my children is they can make a decent living and lead a happy life as they grow up and have their own families.  They can repay me more than enough by being able to achieve these two things. And I have affirmed this with Wai Yu.  Meanwhile, I am totally satisfied with my daughter-in-law Jia-Mei as I find her very thoughtful, caring and loving.

Quoting the iconic phrase from the movie “Star Wars”, May The Force Be With Them Always and they will forever be in love and live happily ever after.
