On Monday, May 2, 2022, my eldest son Bryan invited Soh Ai and I to visit Ikea Cheras and My Town Shopping Center to while away the afternoon in conjunction with the public holiday of Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1st day.
Bryan drove us at 2.00pm and our first stop was the food centre of Ikea Cheras. There was a long queue of customers. We bought 6 chicken wings (RM16.90), 20 beef meatballs (RM18.50), roast beef steak (RM27.90), cold drink (RM2.10) and coffee (RM2.00), total amounting to RM67.40.
After our late lunch, Soh Ai and I walked around inside Ikea while Bryan roamed himself. Ikea was full of people and I gave up buying after having selected just 2 items in front of the paying counters.
I bought 2 boxes of 10 bottles each of Red Ginseng Root drink (RM100.00) and 5 packets of Honeyed Korean Red Ginseng slices (RM50.00) from Yeong Ju City Korea at ground floor of MyTown Shopping Center. These items were at discounted prices because they were either near expiry date or actually expired already.
As recommended by Bryan, we visited an interesting uniquely designed bookstore at Level 1 of MyTown. This bookstore has an artistic decor with towering bookshelves (built on stoned pathways in the centre of the space) and plenty of eye-catching artworks. There are also in-house cafes and restaurants and ingeniously designed two-level Piazza that enables customers to take a break and chill whilst enjoying the magnificent view of the city skyline.
It is said to have more than 170,000 books. Truly creative bookselling! For further reference, browse: https://thesmartlocal.com/malaysia/bookxcess-in-mytown/ .
We left at about 5.30pm.
