A Day Trip to Sg Klah Hot Springs Park

Today (January 1, 2009) we made our first-ever trip to Taman Rekreasi Air Panas (TRAP) or Hot Springs Recreation Park, Sungai Klah off Sungkai for a day’s trip.

At 8.10am, my wife Soh Ai and two kids, Wai Jen and Wai Kei, and I went to fetch our mutual SGM friends, Yong Yew Khoon and his wife Jia Min, in our Toyota Avanza. We had our breakfast at Tuk Tuk Restaurant, Bandar Mahkota Cheras before leaving Kuala Lumpur to Sungkai via the North-South Highway (the toll charge was RM 15.70 one way from Sungai Buloh toll).

We reached FELDA Residence Hot Springs park at 11.50am and went in for about 2 hours (admission = RM 10.00 per adult). The park is located about 16.5km or 20 minutes away from the Toll Exit at Sungkai, after the Sungai Klah FELDA village.

It is reported that the “natural hot springs are a common occurrence in Peninsular Malaysia. This phenomenon occurs when water that seeps into the Earth is heated by magma; molten rock located beneath the surface of the Earth. The Earth’s pressure then causes the water to again rise above the surface, forming a natural hot spring.

"The water flowing from the hot springs has several therapeutic healing effects. Since ancient times hot springs have been claimed to have positive effects on ailments such as: Rheumatism, Arthritis, Insomnia, Derma related complaints, Respiratory concerns, Stiff joints and stress related ailments, Spinal injuries and fractures.”

The places of interest we visited were: Hot Springs Swimming Pool, Cold Pool & Therapeutic Pools, Giant Octopus Water Slide, Water Reflexology Course, Natural Hot Springs Boardwalk, Hot Springs Egg Boiling Activity, Mountain Springs Pool.

We left the Hot Springs park at about 2.00pm and went to the nearest town of Bidor to have our lunch at Pun Chun Restaurant. We returned home at about 4.30pm.

Egg boiling activity took place here.

Wai Kei enjoyed the most playing with water at the Giant Octopus Water Slide as the rest of us did not venture into the pool.
