JUST TO SHARE (Lau Tai Onn): A Brief Account Of One-day Trip To Klang On 31/07/2026

My buddies from the neighbourhood Jerry How and Albert Tan and I took advantage of the “last day” of the free ride of LRT3 Shah Alam Line on 31/07/2026 to go to Klang for Bak Kut Teh (BKT) and others on Friday, 31/07/2026.

(Note: It was later announced on the same day that the free ride is extended another 2 weeks to 14/08/2026)

The following is a brief account of our excursion on the day:

7.20am Jerry, I and Albert boarded the Rapid KL feeder bus T453 separately from the bus stop nearest to our house in Bdr Sg Long to MRT Bukit Dukung Station. The bus was very crowded, but some passengers (presumed to be UTAR students) offered their seats to we senior citizens. Very touching gesture!

8.00am Reached MRT Bkt Dukung Station.

8.05am Embarked MRT train. The train was also packed with passengers, but some nice young men/women irrespective of race gave away their seats to us.

9.10am Disembarked at MRT Bdr Utama Station which is an interchange with LRT3 Shah Alam Line. Our concessionary fare was RM2.10.

We exited MRT Station and entered LRT Station.

9.20am Embarked LRT3 train from Bdr Utama Station (SA01).

It was observed that some LRT station nos. were mssiong: 04, 06, 08, 11, 13 and 16. The last station no. is SA26 and hence the total no. of LRT3 stations of Shah Alam line is 26 - 6 = 20.

Since we were in no hurry to eat bak kut teh and it was a free ride, Albert suggested we traveled to the last station at Johan Setia for fun.

10.30am Reached the last Johan Setia Station (SA26). We didn’t leave the station at all, but walked to the opposite platform to catch another train.

10.35am Embarked LRT3 train.

11.00am Disembarked at Jln Meru Station (SA19).

We wanted to patronize Ah Her Bak Kut Teh Meru branch (阿火肉骨茶) and Google suggested to get off at Jln Meru LRT Station (SA19) rather than Pasar Klang Station (SA18). The shop is about 1.5km away.

Walked about 15 min. and asked for direction at a Petronas petrol station with a guy who was pumping petrol. He initially explained the way to walk there and later offered to drive us to the doorstep. What a nice guy he was, even introducing the many BKT shops around the area along the way! Saved us a lot of effort!

11.20am Arrived at Ah Her BKT (Meru) at L4-1-2, Jln Pekan Baru 34, Klang. We were told this is a branch, with main restaurant at Pandamaran, 2 other branches at Bandar Botanic and Setia Alam.

I have checked with ChatGPT on 27/07/2026 for the recommendation between Ah Her BKT and Seng Huat aka “Under The Bridge” BKT.

ChatGPT says: Many Klang locals consider Ah Her among the best for bowl-style bak kut teh, both richer and more opaque, with excellent pork cuts.

On the other hand, Seng Huat is legendary, having been operating since the late 1970s and is often recommended in travel guides. However, recent local discussions are more mixed, with some saying quality is less consistent than it once was, while others still regard it as one of the classics.

We ordered 1 bowl each of Soft Bone (软骨 RM17), Goh Huey Kut (五花骨 RM17), Puah Pui Chiak (半肥瘦 RM17), Youmak (油菜 RM10), Tau Pok (豆卜 RM10), 3 plates of rice (RM4.50), Chinese tea (RM7). Total cost: RM82.50 or RM27.50/pax.

The food was considered okay, not particularly impressive. As preferred by Jerry, most were lean meat with little fat. I wished to try Kawan (脚弯), but it was out of stock.

12.10pm Left Ah Her and walked to Pasar Klang Station (SA18).

12.35pm Took LRT to go to Jambatan Kota Station (SA20).

1.00pm Visited Lian Bee Confectionery (联美饼家）at 14, Lrg Gopeng off Jln Goh Hock Huat, Klang and I bought one box each of salty biscuits Tau Sa Pia (豆沙饼 RM11.80), Pineapple Tart (黄梨酥RM18) and 2 pc. biscuits (阿公饼 RM5). Total RM34.80.

The lady boss showed us a hand-written map showing places of eateries aound her area and I asked her permission to snap a copy with my mobile phone. She also suggested for us to go for cendol at Pasar Jawa adjacent to LRT Jambatan Kota Station rather than Cendol Klang.

1.20pm Walked to the nearby Cheong Foh Cafe (昌和茶室) for a cup of coffee (each RM2.30). Albert paid for us.

2.00pm Walked to Jambatan Kota Statiom and had cendol at Pasar Jawa. RM3 per bowl and quite delicous. I treated my fellow companions.

2.25pm Embarked LRT3 from Jambatan Kota Station (SA20) to Bdr Utama Station (SA01).

3.25pm Reached LRT3 Bdr Utama Station. As I was disembarking, I was taken by surprise in bumping into my wife’s 5^th uncle Choo Say Eng who was taking the train to go home.

Jerry and Albert earlier suggested to pay a visit to 1 Utama Shopping Centre before returning home. But they found me sleepy on board of LRT and decided to go home instead.

3.40pm Took MRT from Bdr Utama Station back to Bkt Dukung Station.

4.30pm Reached MRT Bkt Dukung Station.

5.00pm Took Rapid KL feed bus T453 to return to Bdr Sg Long.

5.15pm Returned home, concluding an enjoyable one-day excursion to Klang!
