A Half-day Tour to Ombak KLCC on September 1, 2026

Ombak KLCC, Kuala Lumpur is a new shopping mall/retail market in the KLCC precinct, opened to the public on August 21, 2026.

It is reported that this 420,000 sq.ft. development will house around 120 retail and F&B outlets, with a tenant mix spanning coffee, dining, lifestyle, technology and convenience. It spans seven floors.

The mall will also become the new home of Galeri Petronas, which is relocating from Suria KLCC and will open in phases, to be launched by the end of 2027.

Beyond retail, Ombak KLCC includes a rooftop garden and open-air plaza designed for events and leisure activities.

The design architecture of Ombak KLCC having a unique whale-like shape looked like riding waves is most captivating. “Ombak” means “wave” in Malay.

On Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in conjunction with Selangor special public holiday to celebrate the state winning the overall championship at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA), my wife Soh Ai and two sons Wai Kit and Wai Kei, and I went to visit Ombak KLCC for the first time since its opening.

We left home at about 10.00am and drove to MRT Batu 11 station. As we couldn’t find a parking space, we drove to MRT Bukit Dukung station and parked at the elevated car park.

From Bukit Dukung, we took MRT Kajang Line to TRX station which is interchanged with MRT Putrajaya Line. From TRX, we took MRT to Persiaran KLCC which is only 2 stations away.

There is a direct underground link from Persiaran KLCC MRT station to Ombak KLCC.

We roamed around the mall, visiting Galeri Petronas which was partially opened, taking the wave-like curved escalators from floor to floor.  It was a pity that the Rooftop Sky Garden was not yet accessible.

We had Japanese-inspired grilled skewers and sausages plus canned drinks at Yakigo and freshly hand-brewed Chinese tea drinks at Beutea (茶仙子), all paid by Wai Kit, at Urban Eats, Concourse Floor (LL!M).

Many retail shops were yet to be opened and nothing much interesting was discovered.

We left Ombak KLCC at about 2.00pm and took MRT rides in the reverse way we came to return home.
