Teppanyaki Buffet at Sunway Velocity on April 30, 2022

On Saturday, April 30, 2022, my wife Soh Ai and I left home at 10.30am and took a RapidKL bus at 11.00am (long wait) to MRT Bukit Dukong Station.  We had an buffet lunch date with brother-in-law Jeremy (Sze Teong) and his wife Kitty Wan at Sunway Velocity Mall, K.L.

The MRT train is quite frequent unless the shutter service bus. We reached MRT Maluri Station at about 12.00pm and walked to Sunway Velocity Mall.

We had some difficulty in finding the location of the restaurant Japanese Kitchen Stadium 5031 which is actually located at Menara Sunway Visio and linked by Nanking Street (南京街) off Sunway Velocity Mall. Address: V03A-02-05, Menara Sunway Visio, Lingkaran SV, Sunway Velocity, 55100 K.L.

Jeremy and Kitty met us and together we ordered the Teppanyaki Buffet (RM49++ per person).

The main dish is Okonomiyaki (お好み焼き, 大阪烧 or什锦烧), a Japanese savory pancake dish consisting of wheat flour batter and other ingredients (mixed, or as toppings) cooked on a teppan (flat griddle).  Common additions include cabbage, meat, and seafood, and toppings include okonomiyaki sauce (made with Worcestershire sauce), aonori (dried seaweed flakes), katsuobushi (bonito flakes), Japanese mayonnaise, and pickled ginger.  We didn’t (though we could) DIY the Okonomiyaki but requested the two standby young waitresses to cook for us.

The other buffet food available were: BBQ Corner, salad, oden, udon,   karaage, tempura, beef slices, pork cutlet, stir-fried dishes, steamed dishes, stewed dishes, Japanese curry rice, soup, cakes, ice-cream, green tea, oolong tea, black coffee, watermelon.

It is understood that the Japanese Kitchen Stadium 5031 flagship restaurant was established in March 2022.

The total bill was 4 x RM49.00+10% = RM215.60 x 0.90 (10% discount for getting to know this restaurant from YouTube) = RM194.04.

After buffet lunch, we patronized the adjacent No. 1 China Mart (1号中国超市) where I bought 3 packets of snacks.  We parted ways with Jeremy and Kitty at Nanking Street and continued to walk around Sunway Velocity Mall for a while.  

The Mall was full of Hari Raya Aildifitri (May 2, 2022) festive mood.  A Malay chap sang the Cantonese song “朋友” very well.

We bought a Jumbo cheese for RM10.50 (for Wai Kei) at Auntie Anne’s and Kung-fu Meat Buns (功夫肉包- 6 pcs for RM18.30) and salted egg lava buns (咸蛋流沙包- 9 pcs for RM17.00) at B.O.D.包栈.

We took the MRT train to Bukit Dukong at about 4.15pm.  Took RapidKL bus at 4.50pm and reached home at 5.10pm.
