Attendance at Newswav Creator Awards 2025 at Tropicana Golf & Country Resort on October 1, 2025

I first contributed an article in Chinese to Newswav, a News & Content Aggregator, on 14/11/2022 and to date have contributed a total of 21 articles (including one in English).

I was initially introduced to and encouraged to write for Newswav by a senior friend Mr. Aw Eng Sun.

Newswav extended an invitation to me as a Wavmaker via its CEO Ms. Janice Chin to attend its annual Creator Awards 2025. This is the first time I attended such an event.

On 01/10/2025, I left home at 5.10pm after noting from Waze that the time of driving was 1 hr 10 min to reach Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, about 40km away. I thought I would reach the destination by 6.30pm.

Holy cow, how wrong I was as I was caught in a very bad traffic jam, crawling most of the time all the way in PJ!

I reached Tropicana only at about 7.20pm.  Many guests were late too, including my friend Aw Eng Sun who hoped to reach at 6.45pm after taking a Grab taxi from his Bukit Damansara Condo., but eventually arrived at about 7.45pm.

After receiving a goody bag of gifts from the organizer and finding my Table No. 9, I proceeded to greet Janice Chin whom I have corresponded many times but never met before. This was the first time I met up with her in person. And she said finally meeting me in Mandarin.

Being the Head of Biz Dev & Operations of Newswav, Janice gave an in-depth and lively presentation of the organization. Very well done!

I had the pleasure of sharing the night with Aw and his friend Victor Goon and two other gentlemen in my table.

The buffet food, desserts and drinks were plenty and nice.  

I left the function hall at 9.40pm before the event ended so as to avoid heavy traffic. The returning journey to home was quite smooth and I returned home at about 10.45pm.
