Attendance At Tsun Jin Old Pupils’ Association Annual General Meeting 2019

Wong Yoke
Meng and I
As a Senior Middle 3 graduate of Tsun Jin High School KL in 1973 (高中第10), I joined the KL & Selangor Tsun Jin Old Pupils’ Association ( 隆雪循人校友会) as a life member in Sept. 23, 1982.

But shy to admit, I haven’t attended a single Annual General Meeting of the Association in the past 36 years.

For the fun of it, I invited high school classmate Wong Yoke Meng (who joined the Association only last year) to attend this year Annual General Meeting held at 2.00pm, Sunday, July 7, 2019 at its premises at Taman Billion, Cheras, for the first time in my life.

On Sunday, July 7, 2019, Wong came to BSL to give me a car lift at 12.25pm and we reached the Association at 12.55pm. We had a light meal of noodle, curry chicken, vege and etc. and chit-chatted with a senior 吴南美 (graduate of the class of 1964 高中第1).

The meeting started at about 2.05pm and ended at 2.50pm.  As it was not an election year, the attendees were not many. During the meeting, I rose a couple of times to raise a few questions like the lack of report on the current total number of membership, query about the lack of membership list being attached together with the Notice of Meeting in the past and suggestion on updating events and activities in the Association’s FaceBook which was last updated in August, 2018.

Wong and I left at 3.00pm after the meeting and I find the attendance enjoyable.

A commemorative magazine published in conjunction of the Association's 50th Anniversary last year
A page found in the above magazine listing my two sons Wai Kit and Wai Jen as recipients of the academic achievement prizes in 2006.  What a surprise!

“Phantom of Opera” at Istana Budaya in July 2, 2019

On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, my eldest son Wai Kit treated my wife and I to the musical “The Phantom Of The Opera” at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur from 8.30pm till 11.15pm.

The musical started performing form June 15, 2019 till July 7, 2019. I was told the tickets sold like hot cakes.  Wai Kit booked the tickets online on June 2, 2019 I.e. exactly one month beforehand. Ours are the cheapest and seated at the Grand Circle uppermost level last row corner at RM 354.00 + 4.00 (ticket/charge fee) = RM 358.00.  I also bought a half-mask for RM50.00 as souvenir.

According to brochure, The Phantom Of The Opera tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as “The Phantom” who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House.  Mesmerized by the talents and beauty of a young soprano Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protege and falls fiercely in love with her.  Unaware of Christine’s love for Raoul, the Phantom’s obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness and passions collide,

To me the musical was entertaining enough with songs sung almost nonstop from the beginning to the end of the show, except we couldn’t clearly see the faces of  the actors and actresses from afar.  And it was prohibited to take any photos during the show and hence no photos could be shared..

As we left in a rush after showat 11.15pm, I forgot to take the souvenir put on the floor. Luckily, I realized it after driving for a short distance and quickly returned to the empty theatre and managed to retrieve it.  We reached home exactly at 12.00am.
Souvenir costing RM50

We were seated at the last row H of the Grand Circle area
