No Men Should Play God (by Dr JB Lim)
To this, Dr JB Lim comments as follows:
Saturday, 25 June, 2011 3:26 PM
No one, whether he is a scientist, medical researcher, a great physician, a pastor, chief priest, a cellular biologist or an evolutionist should play god.
The maximum human genetic life span is just an infinitesimal 120 years. The age of the Universe is estimated to be between 13-20 billion years in comparison.
Eternity is far beyond that – it’s time without an end, without a border. That’s it. No one can live beyond the prescribed 120 years, if he is lucky.
In one of my medical textbooks, it was clearly printed there on the preface itself even before all the chapters on medicine were written, that everyone eventually must die either of the following broad categories:
• Accident
• Infection
• Cancers
• Degeneration
• Multiple organ failure
That’s it. This is the program for every one of us. This fate is completely sealed and ordained by God, and absolutely no one can interfere or change this biological program. It is as fixed and absolute as the law of the Medes and Persians (Daniel 6:8), and no one can amend or alter that.
There is just no exception for anyone trying to live forever - not even for the president, king, and queen, or the prime minister of the most powerful and greatest countries on this planet.
Those scientists who try to interfere and made those claims in that video here will be one of the first to go. It must be one of those science fictions produced and directed by Steven Spielberg for entertainment.
You should have attended my talk on 'Why we must grow old and die' I gave to the academic staff of the University of Malaya, and to the Malaysian Senior Scientists Association nearly 2 years ago.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years (Psalm 90:10). That’s it!
Live a life full of quality, not quantity.
Be respectful to God who designed and programmed us.

Best Comeback Responses
If you ever testify in court, you might wish you could have been as sharp as this policeman. He was being cross-examined by a defense attorney during a felony trial. The lawyer was trying to undermine the police officer's credibility ....
A: 'No sir. But I subsequently observed a person matching the description of the offender, running several blocks away.'
Q: 'Officer -- who provided this description?'
A: 'The officer who responded to the scene.'
Q: 'A fellow officer provided the description of this so-called offender. Do you trust your fellow officers?'
A: 'Yes, sir. With my life.'
Q: 'With your life? Let me ask you this then officer. Do you have a room where you change your clothes in preparation for your daily duties?'
A: 'Yes sir, we do!'
Q: 'And do you have a locker in the room?'
A: 'Yes, sir, ... I do.'
Q: 'And do you have a lock on your locker?'
A: 'Yes, sir.'
Q: 'Now, ... why is it, officer, if you trust your fellow officers with your life, you find it necessary to lock your locker in a room you share with these same officers?'
A: 'You see, sir -- we share the building with the court complex, and sometimes lawyers have been known to walk through that room.'
The courtroom EXPLODED with laughter, and a prompt recess was called. The officer on the stand has been nominated for this year's 'Best Comeback' line -- and we think he'll win.
Number 2:
Now We Know Why He Was a General..
In an recent interview, General Norman Schwarzkopf was asked if he thought there was room for forgiveness toward the people who have harbored and abetted the terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks on America.
His answer was classic…
The General said, "I believe that forgiving them is God's function .... OUR job is to arrange the meeting."

Blooming Philosophy
We never want what we get,
We never have what we like,
We never like what we have.
And still we live & love.
That's life...
The best kind of friends,
Is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with,
Never say a word,
And then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
It's true that we don't know
What we've got until it's gone,
But it's also true that we don't know
What we've been missing until it arrives.
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back!
Don't expect love in return;
Just wait for it to grow in their heart,
But if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours.
It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone,
An hour to like someone,
And a day to love someone,
But it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
Go for someone who makes you smile,
Because it takes only a smile to
Make a dark day seems bright.
Find the one that makes your heart smile!
May you have
Enough happiness to make you sweet,
Enough trials to make you strong,
Enough sorrow to keep you human,
And enough hope to make you happy.
Always put yourself in others' shoes.
If you feel that it hurts you,
It probably hurts the other person, too.
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
Happiness lies for
Those who cry,
Those who hurt,
Those who have searched,
And those who have tried,
For only they can appreciate the importance of people
Who have touched their lives.
When you were born, you were crying
And everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die,
You're the one who is smiling
And everyone around you is crying.
Please send this message
To those people who mean something to you,
To those who have touched your life in one way or another,
To those who make you smile when you really need it,
To those that make you see the brighter side of things when you are really down,
To those who you want to know that you appreciate their friendship.
And if you don't, don't worry,
Nothing bad will happen to you,
You will just miss out on the opportunity
to brighten someone's life with this message.

洋蔥浸葡萄酒的驚人效果 (Red Wine and Onions)
一. 將洋蔥洗淨,去掉表面茶色外皮,切成八等份約半月形;
二. 將洋蔥裝入玻璃瓶內,加入紅葡萄酒,(將剝下來的外皮也一起加入效果更好);
三. 將玻璃瓶蓋好密封,在陰涼地方放置約2至8日,(筆者覺得一星期最好);
四. 將玻璃瓶的洋蔥片,用濾網過濾後,洋蔥、酒分開裝入瓶中,放置在冰箱中冷藏。
飲用方法:
一. 每日約一杯(50毫升),年紀大的人每次20毫升左右;
二. 每日飲一至兩次;
三. 浸過酒的洋蔥片一起食用更好;

Red wine and onions (Citrus Punch)
When I traveled to Hong Kong, a friend of mine, a wine retailer, told me that onions, when soaked in red wine, can help curing common chronic diseases and gave me the recipe. He said this treatment is quite popular in Japan. Problems can be benefited include: aching knees, poor eye sight, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, frequent urination, sleeplessness, etc.
Initially, I was suspicious about what he said because I thought he was just trying to sell me some of the products in his store.
After I came back to the Gold Coast, I told my brother Joe and his wife Lily about this secret. They laughed but were eager to try out as they both have the symptoms of the described problems. We know there is no harm to try. After all, there are no expensive items in the recipe. So we started to follow my friend’s recommendation. After drinking such wine for a few weeks, we all found improvements in our body. My wife does not need to go to bathroom in the middle of the night as before. We now believe this recipe, and like to pass it on to others and hope it helps you too.
Materials:
• 2 Onions
• Red wine -500 ml
(A bottle of wine, usually 750 ml, will need 3 onions)
Preparations:
1. Wash onions, remove outside peels, slice each onion into 8 equal parts
2. Put cut onions in to a jar, pour wine into the jar
3. Seal the jar, place jar in a cool temperature area for 7 or 8 days
4. Separate wine and onion in different containers and put in refrigerator
Usage:
1. Drink a glass of the wine (50 ml) each time (20 ml for elders)
2. Drink one or two times a day
4. Better eat the soaked onion slices
5. For those who can’t drink, add twice amount of water boil it 5 minutes to drink
6. For those who like it sweet, add a small amount of honey

Food Poisoning Caused By E. coli
According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escherichia_coli), Escherichia coli, commonly abbreviated E. coli; named after Theodor Escherich, is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium that is commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms (endotherms). Most E. coli strains are harmless, but some serotypes can cause serious food poisoning in humans, and are occasionally responsible for product recalls. The harmless strains are part of the normal flora of the gut, and can benefit their hosts by producing vitamin K2, and by preventing the establishment of pathogenic bacteria within the intestine.
Our local nutrition scientist Dr JB Lim offers his comments to his e-buddies as follows:
Thursday, 9 June, 2011 3:30 AM
From: lim juboo
Dear all,
Thank you to you all for all those warnings and fears about E. coli outbreak circulating round through these e-mails.
After reading all these exchanges, I need to inform you that Escherichia coli or E. coli for short, is a very common bacteria found in every one of us. It is a rod-shaped Gram-negative bacterium that flourishes in the lower intestine of humans and warm-blooded animals (endotherms).
Gram negative bacteria means they are bacteria that do not retain crystal violet dye in the Gram staining protocol, but coloring all Gram-negative bacteria red or a pink color as seen under a microscope.
What I want to tell you is that most of the strains of E. coli are harmless, but some serotypes can cause serious food poisoning in humans. The harmless strains are part of our normal gut flora, and they can benefit us by producing vitamin K2 in our intestine. Besides, their presence in our intestine can prevent the formation of disease causing (pathogenic) bacteria from taking root in our intestine.
Some examples of the pathogenic strains include: O26, O103, O111, O145, and O104:H21. But I am unsure among which of the strains caused food poisoning in Germany and in Europe that produce potentially lethal toxins and death.
Food poisoning caused by E. coli usually results from eating unwashed vegetables or undercooked meat. O157:H7 is also notorious for causing serious and even life-threatening complications such as hemolytic-uremic syndrome.
However, I need to calm fears about E. coli infection in our local foods, because I want to emphasize here that over 90 % of E. coli are harmless, and they thrive happily inside the large intestines of every one of us reading this. They do not bother us, and likewise we do not bother their presence.
In fact in public health, we use the presence of E. coli in water supply as an indicator of fecal contamination, and nothing more. Their presence does not mean drinking the water or washing our vegetables in it, is going to cause pathogenic infection due to E. coli.
Their presence in water supply may mean they may also be the presence of other pathogenic intestinal and gut organisms such as Leptospirosis from rat’s urine, and those that cause tropical diarrhoeal diseases like typhoid, dysentery and cholera, including Salmonella here in Malaysia.
My previous study at the Divisions of Rural Health Research, and Community Medicine at the Institute for Medical Research found the presence of other water-borne pathogenic organisms in well water, and in open village water supply from rivers more a concern to public health and the spread of tropical diseases than the mere presence of E. coli in water or in food supply.
I hope this explanation will allay your worries and public fears.
