In the evening of October 6, 2016
(Thursday), my wife and I attended the Reception in celebration of the 105th
Anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of China at the Mayang Sari Grand
Ballroom, JW Marriott Hotel, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. It has been a great privilege accorded to me continuously since 1997 by the Representative of the Taipei
Economic & Cultural Office in Malaysia to attend such an annual function.
We left home at
6.10 pm and reached JW Marriott Hotel at 7.15 pm. By then the guests were pouring in and the
reception started at 7.40 pm with the delivery of welcoming speech by H.E.
Ambassador James Chang Chi-ping.
Food was diversified and abundant
but as usual the most demanding stall was Din Tai Fung (鼎泰丰) serving Taiwanese delicacies
of dumplings (小笼包) and small pau (芋泥小包) as can seen by the long queue
of guests.
After drinking two
glasses of red wine, I could feel my face red.
As I could hardly find any acquaintances for chit-chat, we left for home
at 8.45 pm despite the reception was still on.
